Here are some interesting quick costume ideas and you can get it all done in less than a day, without running around searching for costly costumes.

- Witch: Let the child wear black or green tights and a cape can be fashioned easily from black material or a black sheet. After wearing the socks, wrap red tape around from bottom to top, to create a red striped sock effect. Socks can be dyed in any bright color if you prefer. Use broom for witch’s hat. Paint face in green and add dark smudges around eyes and mouth. Use black lipstick and nail polish to finish the look.

- Dracula: After child is dressed in any attire of your choice, tie red material around neck as a neckerchief. Paint the child’s hair in heavy black and paint the face in hospital white. Profusely apply some fake blood oozing around the corners of mouth. Smudge dark circles around eyes. Carefully tie cape around neck. The child will assuredly acquire a horrid look.

- Devil: Make a pitchfork using cardboard or suitable plastic material and spray paint red. Glue horns on to headband with some strong adhesive. Tie on cape, paint both face and hands red. Use black paint to create a mustache and goatee, smudge dark marks near cheek bones and eyes.

- Frankenstein Monster: Tie hair upward using gel and hairspray. Apply black hair paint to enhance the effect. Paint face green and make sure to add scars and few stitch marks. Walk either akimbo or with arms extended and legs completely straight.

- Skeleton: Draw out three or four ribs for each side of rib cage to create the bone structure, draw out simple limbs without trying to be overly extravagant. Apply clothing and paint the face white and apply dark smudges around eyes, nose and mouth. If you don’t have gloves, paint hands white.

- Ghost: This is the easiest costume requiring minimum effort. Simply cut holes for eyes and arms and you are all set! To add a little horror effect, you can finish it off with a top hat.

- Grim Reaper: Create a scythe using cardboard. Wrap the blade with bright aluminum foil. Paint the child’s face white and smudge black around eyes, nose, and mouth. After child is dressed, wrap black material around like a cape to encompass the whole body. Fasten with safety pins. Hood should deliberately be oversized so that much of the face will be hidden.
