You don't have to break the bank to put together a good zombie survival kit. If you keep your wits about you, you can get good stuff for a fraction of the price of the "top name" equipment. It's the old 80/20 rule: Look for things that have 80% of the quality/features for 20% of the price. Here I suggest possible options for EDC knives, multitool, handgun and flashlights.
